About the event
In this talk, we will discuss quite an inefficient, but interesting, way of computing the value of pi when all we have is needles and a floor made of parallel strips of wood. We will take an approach to this problem (due to Barbier) which opens doors to a certain way of combinatorial thinking, called by some as continuous combinatorics.
